Google Business is probably the most important directory when it comes to listing your practice online. Not only can your practices’ information appear first for local searches but it will also be integrated into Google Maps and Google Plus which has a current user base of over a billion members combined.
If you don’t have a Google Business account yet, you can watch the video below to learn how to add your practice or claim a listing.
When you sign up for an account, it will allow you to search for your business first. If it’s already listed, you will have the option to claim it from a drop down menu like:
Claim a listing is for if a customer entered your information to leave a review before you officially opened your own account. Once your listing is claimed, you will be able to respond to reviews and add more information and photos. Hopefully all good stuff of course!
If you can’t find your practice, go ahead and input your information to make a new listing.
Make sure all the information you enter is correct. Aside from the obvious reasons for wanting correct information, many other websites syndicate business information from Google. You don’t want future customers driving to the wrong address or calling the wrong phone number.
As I mentioned above, your practice can be featured in local search results but not until it’s verified. Follow the video below to verify your practice. You can verify your practice by postcard or instantly through the phone.
There are a number of factors that go into whether your practice will turn up in the top 3 (Google’s secret) but it’s typically the listings with the most positive reviews.
Signing up is free and having a flow of positive reviews can also lead to better search engine rankings for your website which of course means more patients. For more information, you can check out Google’s official help section here.
